If you drive by Good Shepherd on a Thursday afternoon, you might be surprised to come upon a party that happens there every week. You will find the newest Outreach Team members, Allison and DJ VanZanten, cheerily gathering supplies and setting up a station with children in tow.
I tell my kids countless stories of how God was faithful to my parents. Stories that include healing, safety, multiplying food when it was low, miracles that happened when they were on the mission field. My hope is that they will turn and tell their kids of how God was faithful to their grandparents and to us and that it will pass down for generations to come.
I felt selfishness start to creep in from the moment I knew I’d have some time by myself. It’s as if I began to plan temporarily walking away from God and walk into pure self-focus.

We hear somebody’s hurt, is doubting, or struggling with something and we have very little to offer. So, we end up giving our friend a verbal pat on the back. “It will all be ok,” we say, as their hearts are bleeding.
Singleness is a gift from the Lord to be stewarded. Marriage is not Heaven on earth and singleness is not a curse. We steward our singleness well when we show that Jesus is enough and have undivided devotion to the Lord.
